A thought:
For Jesus, there was an inestimable inheritance - the redemption of Creation and mankind; the return to the Victor's throne; the glory of the sanctification of the sons of men - that came at a complete cost - the rigors of walking sinlessly in the flesh; the death that bought our freedom... For us, we must begin at our inestimable inheritance - access to the Godhead; eternal peace, hope, love and joy; fearlessness before death and judgment; citizenship in Heaven; etc etc - before we can begin to offer our lives at a complete cost. Without delving into what Jesus has already accomplished and all that He lives to give us now, our self-surrender can quickly descend into self-righteous legalism. Yet, too, without a complete offering of our lives, we cannot follow Jesus into the throne-room where He bids us daily for Union with Himself... Spending ourselves prodigally out of the bottomless well of Kingdom-wealth is the Way; there really is no end to the inestimable inheritance He offers ... at complete cost.
